Get a load of these gorgeous gourds!

Hello All! We are so excited to get underway delivering fresh produce, storage crops and some homemade treats to you this season. We've been busy getting the greenhouses planted with lettuce, salad mixes, herbs and more! We've also been getting our weightlifting in as we harvest and haul pounds of carrots, beets, cabbages, squash and more to fill those boxes!

This post will cover lots of information about deliveries, cool partnerships, and other amazing local foods to access! First order of business... Thank You! We could not do this work without your support.

It is truly an honor to work with this land growing food and fostering an ecosystem of plants, people and community. Now, for the nitty gritty details.

Delivery Dates

  • October 27th

  • November 10th

  • November 22nd (the Tuesday before Thanksgiving

  • December 8th

Text Alerts: We will be sending text alerts before and after each pick-up location has been visited. The phone number you provided when signing up online is the number we will use for these alerts. If the number you provided does not accept texts, please e-mail us.

Delivery times are hard to determine before the first delivery. While we wish we could have the timing determined from the get-go, unfortunately it just isn't that easy. We'll be sending out the text alerts 15-30 minutes before we arrive at your pick-up location, and again once we've arrived.

Boxes: Please save them! Please return them to your pick-up site, or better yet, bring a few bags when you pick up your CSA and leave your box at the pick-up site!

Add-ons Are All In!

When originally signing up for a fall CSA, you may have noticed we offer several recurring add-on options as well. Friday October 21st was the final day to add anything you'd like to be delivered with your CSA boxes, but you can still support these local producers directly or spread the word. Click any of the links below to learn more about our awesome foodie friends!

But the deadline for subscription add-ons is not the end of all add-ons! Coming up, you can get a variety of farm-grown heirloom beans and locally tapped, organic maple syrup!

A colorful sampling of heirloom dried beans from Decadence Heirloom Beans.

Some of you may remember our collaboration with Decadence Heirloom Beans from last year. This year, we were excited to welcome Erin and Sachi, the two farmers, onto Foxtail Farm! The two leased about a half acre and grew their heirloom beans here! It was so fun to share the camaraderie of farming with another group and to watch their process. We definitely were able to sing about successes, commiserate about failures, and laugh through the ups and downs of the season together. Their beans are grown using organic methods. This is a one-time bulk buy that then gets delivered with the November 10th box. Keep an eye peeled in our first official news letter for links to ordering information!

Three sizes of glass bottles containing pure, organic maple syrup from Elk Ridge Maple Farm in Wisconsin.

Elk Run Maple Farm is a small “sugarbush” in the Driftless region of southwest Wisconsin. It’s a land of steep forested hills, some of which contain a high concentration of sugar maple trees. The sugarbush spreads over about 50 acres of forested hills with a sugar shack at the base. They tap approximately 500 trees per year, and have about 850 taps. Sap collection each year  varies from 7,000-14,000 gallons. The weather conditions determine when the sap starts flowing and when it’s time to stop collecting. The sap then is boiled down, yielding 100 to 200 gallons of finished syrup.

This land has had maple syrup production since the 1930s. At that time, horses were used to collect the sap from steel buckets hanging on the maple trees. The log buildings from this operation still exist on the hilltop.

Their operation is certified organic by MOSA (Midwest Organic Services  Association, accredited by USDA). That means they use no herbicides and chemicals in the woods, and they follow all organic guidelines required in collecting, processing and bottling. Elk Run Maple Farm is also a member of the Maple Valley Cooperative, a collection of organic maple farmers that bottles the syrup in their certified organic bottling plant in Cashton, WI.

If you're interested in buying some of Elk Run's syrup, email foxtailfarm@gmail.com. Prices are $8 for a pint, $15 a quart, or $60 a gallon.
