A Bit About Us: 

Foxtail Farm is a chemical free, minimal till farm located in the beautiful St. Croix River Valley of Western Wisconsin. Foxtail is perfectly positioned an hour from the Twin Cities and minutes away from several beautiful state parks. Between access to all the metro has to offer and loads of outdoor activities nearby, it's easy to keep occupied around here while not farming. 

This year we continue the process of transitioning our farm to a no-till operation. We firmly believe in the power of our natural world and strive to steward natural systems whenever possible. We do not use chemicals, but instead choose to build the soil web and use IPM to fight pests of all kinds. No/minimal till focuses on farming at a scale based on human power. We feel striving to farm at this capacity is not only a better scale for the environment, but for all of us on the farm. We feel more connected to our work, to the Earth we occupy, and to the food we grow for our community. Human scale farming means we do work hard. We still find time to enjoy the fruits of our labor by occasionally hosting events at the farm, sharing community meals, and gifting our bounty to others whenever possible. Job Responsibilities:

Using hand methods requires body work.  Be prepared to use your body daily. We strive to integrate mindfulness into the work that we do to bring ease to each day.  Mindfulness in farming at a human scale is critical because each part of the process feeds into the next making each task of similar importance.

Hand weeding and cultivating soil. Seeding and transplanting by hand. Harvesting and hauling crops. Washing and packaging vegetables for three farmers markets and 120 member CSA.  Farming can be beautifully repetitive. Those that can find joy in sometimes simple, repetitive work will appreciate many of the tasks required in maintenance of a farm.

Self-motivation and dedication to getting a job thoroughly done are a must. We feel honored to do the work that we do. That’s why we strive to get the highest quality product to our community. Attention to detail is crucial, while also balancing the workload farming can demand.

We ask that our team maintain efficiency in the systems in place while staying flexible when plans need to change. Having honest and open communication is very important to a successful season.  We want to create a community where we all support each other and feedback can be both given and received. Part Time Main Season:

Job Description: This position is great if you’ve never been a vegetable farmer before but are curious about what it is like. Part-time main season folks assist with the harvest of vegetables each week and also get their hands dirty planting and weeding. No prior farming experience needed to apply.

  • Part Time :15-20 hrs/week 8-5PM Weekends not required. Average 2-3 days/week 

  • Rate: Food included. $12/hr base pay, negotiable based on organic farming experience.

  • Starting Date: June 1 ideally, negotiable.

  • Ending Date: November 1st ideally, negotiable. 

  • Food: (Approximately $60/week value).  Access to all farm veggies as well as staple items like beans, rice and flour. Community lunches are offered during work week. 

Housing Potentially Available: We reserve available housing for full time farm positions first. We do have rooms available (approximate value $40/week) for occasional overnight stays and tents are always welcome! kitchen use available on site. Internet included. Shared bathroom.
